KNITTING NEEDLES & CROCHET HOOKS Want to try your hand at knitting or crocheting, but don't want to invest a lot of money? Need a special size to make that ONE project? The St. Francis Library offers knitting needles and crochet hooks of various sizes. Our collection includes straight, circular, and double-pointed knitting needles as well as crochet and thread hooks. MEMORY KITS If you, or someone you know, is caring for a person with memory loss, you'll want to explore our Memory Kits. A Memory Kit is designed to provide opportunities for positive and engaging activities for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's or another type of dementia. Memory kits contain a variety of items that offer a caregiver and a person with memory loss the opportunity to connect with one another through conversation and engaging activities. Each kit is based on a theme and contains at least one book, DVD, music CD, and an activity/game. The items are designed so that they can be adapted for each user to create a positive experience. MYSTERY GAMES Put your powers of deduction and problem solving skills to the test! Our hand-crafted games are a form of escape room in a box. STEM KITS The kits are aimed at children from pre-K through middle school and support the exploration of engineering concepts, coding, robotics, electronics, green energy, and other cognitive learning skills. Thanks to a “Science Kits for Public Libraries” (SKPL) grant from the Milwaukee section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE-Region 4, and the IEEE Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) of the Industry Application Society (IAS).
