Online Resources

The library provides access to a variety of online resources. Some are provided through our partnerships with the Milwaukee County Federated Library System, the Wisconsin Public Library Constortium, or the State of Wisconsin. Others are funded privately by the St. Francis Library. To access some of the databases, you will need to have a valid library card (barcode number) and PIN.

Brainfuse HelpNow - On demand, anytime, anywhere eLearning for all ages and levels. Brainfuse HelpNow offers personalized homework help in core subjects (math, reading, writing, science and social studies) including SAT preparation. The Adult Learning Center is included in the HelpNow suite.


Brainfuse JobNow - A versatile online service designed to support every step of the job search process. JobNow features live online coaches who, among other things, assist in resume/cover letter preparation, and help patrons prepare for job interviews.


Databases - Our online databases allow you to do all kinds of research from the comfort of your home. You can find homework help, resources for genealogical research, financial planning resources, and more!


EPA Fuel Economy Guide - The guide features fuel economy, annual fuel cost, and emissions information for new model year cars, sport utility vehicles, and light trucks.


Gale Courses - Gale Courses offers a wide range of highly interactive, instructor led courses that you can take entirely online.   As a library card holder in good standing, you are entitled to these courses at no cost. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month.


GCF Learn Free - the GCFLearnFree.org program has helped millions around the world learn the essential skills they need to live and work in the 21st century. From Microsoft Office and email to reading, math, and more, GCFLearnFree.org offers more than 180 topics, including more than 2,000 lessons, 800+ videos, and 55+ interactives and games, completely free. A program of Goodwill Community Foundation® and Goodwill Industries of Eastern NC Inc.®


Online Driver's Ed. Practice Tests - These practice tests are good for the permit test, driver’s license test, motorcycle, CDL, and the senior citizens’ refresher test. You can also find the official online motorcycle, CDL, and driver's handbooks.


Transparent Languages - Featuring over 100 languages, Transparent Language uses the element of fun to achieve serious results. Features include a flexible learning path, core skill-building activities, alphabet lessons, and typing activities (using foreign characters). There is also an extensive collection of tools for English language learners.


Wisconsin's Digital Library - Wisconsin's Digital Library is your source for downloading FREE ebooks, music, movies and audiobooks to your computer or mobile device. Libraries in the State of Wisconsin have pooled their resources to provide one of the leading purchasing consortiums in the country and libraries Milwaukee County Federated Library System (including St. Francis Library) have provided additional funding to buy extra "copies" of ebooks and audiobooks specifically for our patrons. If you're new to downloading ebooks, Wisconsin's Digital Library has a new "Getting Started" page with all the information you need to start downloading your free books, movies and audiobooks!


UdemyThis product from Cengage/Gale is open to all MCFLS patrons and is comprised of on-demand video courses tied back to professional development or personal enrichment. While heavily focused on business and technology area (e.g., project management, leadership, human resources, accounting, data science, coding), this resource also offers an extraordinary amount of content tied to personal growth.  The general categories under personal development include arts & creativity, entrepreneurship, health & fitness, hobbies, language learning, life skills, personal growth and stress management.
